After quite some threads it seems that the all aluminum big A is controversial, but real proof actually never surfaced.
Non-believers are pointing to the assmann catalogue of a certain year which only shows the A DRGM type.
The big A is well made, same dimensions as the A DRGM, same weight, same hinge and catch, same material.
The design is a bit different though.

Copies have been made of the big A resulting in a casting with soldered on copper hinge and catch.

Another copy shows a eagle with it's claw seperated from the body resulting in a weak leg.
This example also shows a funny A at the back.

That does not mean that I think all the "big A eagles" are not genuine. The example shown with courtesy of Philipp-Militaria I like very much.

It is a very interesting debate, in pieces that measure and weigh the same I think the fact of not being in the catalog is not enough to classify pieces high A and back ......

Philipp Militaria The piece was very nice, unfortunately someone will come on ...... but I think if I find another piece like it is very likely to buy.
