    Some LW insignias

    Evening gents!

I just got some new LW insignias in a few days ago.

All comments are welcome, positive or negative. Do not worry!

I believe there are not too many images of the "Afrika" in gothic posted and I am of course a bit curious.

    Cheers,
    Felix

Can't comment on the Afrika cuff title but everything else looks nice. Too bad about the mothing to the pilot's badge; could you take better pics of the Udet cuff title? Possibly taken outside?

They are from outside this evening but I will make more pics tomorrow. Thanks for the comments so far. I like the Flak officers with snap ons.

Yes, the mothts had had a light lunch on that cloth pilot badge!

Further opions about the gothic Afrika are most welcome.

        Cheers,
        Felix

            Thanks!

As I am really curious about the Afrika cuff I would be happy if more would comment or show their examples.

            Cheers,
            Felix

Just posted in this thread that shows another early Afrika in Gothic:

                Thanks Gentlemen

More opinions are of course welcome!

Some one must have more examples or knowledge to share.

                Or??

                Cheers,
                Felix

I really like the Afrika cuff title, I think it stands a great chance and with everything else being good it adds to its possibility of being legit. They are not common at all. Matt

As I said on the other forum, my opinion is only based on examples in books/websites/museums but from what I can see yours looks to be correct.

The three I can see good images of, are yours, the one in the para forum thread and the one in Kutrz's Afrikakorps book, and all appear to have slight variations in the shape of the letters, but only minor stuff but all have that same type of silver border stitch which probably means all are originals. There is also one shown in Scipion & Bastiens Afrikakorps book, though the image is very small -but it looks the same as yours and the others- said to be in the Luftwaffe museum at Uetersen.

Only secondhand knowledge, but I hope it allows me to pass an opinion, without looking like a jerk.

These are good observations and also what I have found. They all have minor variations but the basic features correspond, as well as the chain stitch borders.
Photos of real examples are rare, and references are therefore limited.

Here is another one posted on this forum (post 98 in the link) that is supposed to have solid provenance:

Cheers and thanks so far for all comments
