Flight jackets made out of coveralls

Did period flight jackets exist which were made out of cut down coveralls? Does anyone have period pics of such a jacket in waer?

I know that some of them were made pre war, but i think a saw a pic of a flight jacket made out of a black leather coverall in wear, i donĀ“t remember exaktly if was worn by a pilot or a field division member.

    regards

    Hi there!
I think that mostly of the jacket cut down from coveralls was made in post war years...
The reason is clear, more easily wearable in the civilian life than a one-piece suit!

    Cheers!

That`s true, but i think there were cut down jackets in the war time, because of the same reason!

Sure, but in wartime the crew don't need to shortened a suit, they can easily aquired a two piece one!
Then, all could be happened. A single guy can have had the idea to cut off his suit... but is quite strange for the reason above.

            Hi there!

About the link you've post, its not clear when the cut down was made. A blurried nowdays pics doesn't means nothing.

I would like to see period pics, to endorse the thesis.

            Cheers!

I think it wasn`t that easy, especially in the last years of WW2!

The germany in '44 saw the higher industrial production ever. In flight gear field they spread a new two piece suit, made with the same accuracy of the early year.
If someone had cutted a suit to make a jacket, he made only for personal relish in fashion, not for need to...

                  Cheers!

Unless a period photograph shows up showing a jacket that has been cut down from an overall, ALL such jackets must be view as being postwar. IMO

For sure not - when there was no need for a replacement (e.g. damage) you dont get one. The stuff handed out already has to worn till no longer possible. Only then you get a new one - this is even today the case, they dont care if you dont like the look or whatever.

So if a soldier prefers a 2-piece suit, he could reworked his combi. No big deal.

I have my doubt... How many case is possible to see in period pics?

Anyway, if a soldier prefered a two piece suit, had his two piece suit. They was distributed as they became available to all the flight crew. I doubt that a crewman that don't get it, decided to reworked his suit. If he made it, was only for own fashion.

                            Cheers!
