    Wooden case for planeparts?

I found this wooden case on a fleamarked a few days ago. First thing I noticed was the "Fliegernummer" on it. It wasn't expensive, so I gave it a go (needed a proper case to store books in anyway). When I got home I checked the internet for more information about it, but after numerous tries I couldn't find anything, nor a proper translation on the text inside ("Ersatz-Plombenschrauben" Spare ??? screws/bolts/plugs?).

Also the case seems to be re-painted during the war. It shouldn't be painted at all, just like the interior (note the green paint over the black paint of the locks). It might have to do something with a re-use of it (note the different number on the inside).

Any other thoughts about this case?
    Many thanks in advance!

    Best regards,
    Ivo.

the green is just fine.. many was painted like that during the war..and weaponrelated boxses are often green.
I am 90% sure that this box is realted to mounting the parachute rear parts on the dropcanisters.
the flussigkeitsabwurfbehalter had these screws to lock on the fallschirmtopf toghter with the other larger screws.. these small screws ( same you have in spare on the lid there ) was used as a sealescrew afer the larger ones had been mounted..

will look more regarding the Fl number.. but as far as i see now that is what comes to my mind and the Fl number matches in between the other Fl numbers on the canisters and tailparts

these were painted during the war by the MAUSER factory in the original Wehrmacht paint
and your green paint is 100% original and VEY common on these boxes. we have several original in the museum ( norwegian armed forces museum ) and they are all in the same green

    nice find

and by the way.. the black locks was black when the crate was made..but it was common to overpaint these green..
just to bad that the text on the front lid has been erased.

A friend of mine just sent me this picture, it´s exactly the same case:

Looks like the mystery is solved.

These screws are for bolt the lid together with the box, there is a small hole in the middle of the lid on the last shown box, other boxes have some holes.

I have the same type of box marked for fuzes, I think the boxes were standard issue for general purpose and used for many different items. We had standard containers in the US Army which were all the same size which were alos used for different items. The standard size facilitated stacking and storage etc.
