    Camo Jacket for opinions.

Here's a camo jacket found in a thrift store. It seems the front and under the sleeve appears to be a water pattern and the back, sleeves and collar are completely different. Any thoughts?

Appears to be a repro Lufwaffe Feld Division coat partially made in post war BundesGrenzSchutz sumpfmuster camoflage
(sleeves and back panel made with modern BGS material....)
but I agree some panels (entire front) is made of what appears to be the proper war time '44 pattern sumpfmuster,
              which I find interesting!!!

Daniel Peterson's book "Wehrmacht Camouflage Uniforms & Post War derivatives" actually mentions such LW Feld Div coats
as early repros made of this BGS camo material...(as well as helmet covers and paratrooper smocks)

So based on that its an early repro...the buttons are also wrong for a Feld Div. smock...
but why are some panels made in the correct camo I wonder?

Riddle solved: App. 15 years ago some un-finished FD-camo-jackets were found, most had the arms missing, also some other single parts were there.

Soon after a lot of those jackets, now finished of course, hit the german market...

                  luft camo

Any chance the rank is original? I removed them, and took the crease out, they were folded under and sewn down. Thanks fella's, I couldn't understand why half was good and the other BGS! Also is the RBNr bogus as well?

                      The ranks look good.

Of course the markings are bogus, as the markings would only be added after the tunic was completed - what never happened (at least not before may 1945)...

That makes perfect sense...Too bad they used incorrect BGS camo for the sleeves and back panel and collar...
They should have finished it with repro '44 pattern sumpfmuster...
Still a very interesting find with partially original materials as I suspected!!
Good score! No doubt a thrift store price was paid!
