    Feldmutze Insignia Question

My brother picked this up in the early 70's. I believe both cap and insignia are genuine. My questions are 1. Since the insignia is crudely hand applied, do you think they are post war re-applied? And 2. If indeed they are, would removing them enhance the value of both hat and insignia? Regards, Ron.

Eagle looks like a good one, but there's a lot of flash or light, can you make a day light pic ?

Cap is good. Eagle looks good too but better pics would be nice. Most likely post war replaced but who knows for sure. I would leave the insignia on the cap...

I would not necessarily remove the insignia or think they are replaced, I personally like the type of thread used and this crudely stitching, this is often a far better sign then neatly handstitched or even machinestitched. Why remove it? If authentic, fine, otherwise you have replacements anyway.
But as Erik correctly states, from those pictures hard to say with 100% certainty..if possible to tell at all.

As requested, hopefully better pics. As I stated, I think the insignia are legit. I'm just wondering if it was applied post May '45. Was it common to field apply insignia? All opinions welcome. Ron.

I believe these areas circled in red are from the wing tips of a prior removed eagle.

Hi Glenn. Looks like you on to something there. Would you remove the insignia? Ron.

They did a good job replacing it,I would just leave it as is.
