    thanks for the commenst..lots of work to get to where we are now..

    but that Fw 190 spinner is also a NICE relic.. but no battle of britain relic..but i would say even cooler..hehe

            well.. no Ju 88 spinner i have ever seen has that shape..they are all conical and not straight. we have A1, C2 and A4 spinners in our collection..and that does not look anything like the one you have there with straight sides. can you post a picture of the id tag on it with the information written on it..and also a picture of the aircraft would love to see i am convinced that its a Fw 190 ( that has the same size pretty much as the Ju 88 A1 spinner but the shape is different. but one learn something every day even thought i have been restoring and studying these parst for over 10 years.
            the A4 spinner is slightly larger in diameter

                that is 1000 % a Fw 190 spinner and its a A3 spinner. the serialnumber does not match Ju 88 spinnernumbers and this is identical with the spinner that we have on the Fw 190 A3. as you can see on the schild its also usable for all A varaints up to A8 as you can see by the numbers on the schild

                        Thanks so much for your help, Guttorm!
                        I was always a bit worried as the spinner has .50 caliber bullet holes, but the Spitfires and Hurricanes fired .303.
                        Of course, the P 51 had .50 Brownings (as did B17s), so who knows....

                          no problem..and i was SURE when i saw it that it was a Fw 190 and the id tag proved it.. but thistime the seller got fooled ( made up a story from BoB i guess to make it worth more..but thenagain..if he had known what it was and told the real story..50cal bulletholse..Fw 190 spinner with original paint and Id tag..he would have sold it for 10 times the price of a BoB Ju 88 spinner not often one hear about buyers getting the better side up but you struck gold on this item thumbs up for that spinner pal green of envy..hehe

                          and if you have a picture of a Ju 88 with that painting on the spinner i would love to see as that was mostely used by fighters..bombers painted the spinners in squadroncolors.. but if you study the spinner you will see that it has a different shape that yours also..to bad the seller ( good for you ) dident know that. but ofcourse..he could have been told this by a guy he got it from and the story has lived on its own life for a while..allthough the correct BoB spinner that the story belongs to is not thisone

                            by the listing number on the spinners datatag its Fw 190 A8 that this comes from.. 1944.. battle of europe.. 50 cal bullets.. B-17--mustangs.. very very very very nice find you got.. me jealous..hehe

                              Fw 190 A-8
                              The Fw 190 A-8 entered production in February 1944, it was either powered by the standard BMW 801 D-2 or the 801Q (also known as 801TU). The 801Q/TU was a standard 801D with improved, thicker armour on the front annular cowling, which also incorporated the oil tank, upgraded from 6 mm (.24 in) on earlier models to 10 mm (.39 in). Changes introduced with the Fw 190 A-8 also included the C3-injection Erhöhte Notleistung emergency boost system to the fighter variant of the Fw 190 A (a similar system with less power had been fitted to some earlier Jabo variants of the 190 A) raising power to 1,980 PS (1,953 hp, 1,456 kW) for a short time. The Erhöhte Notleistung system operated by spraying additional fuel into the fuel/air mix, cooling it and allowing higher boost pressures to be run, but at the cost of much higher fuel consumption. From the A-8 on Fw 190s could be fitted with a new paddle-bladed wooden propeller, easily identified by its wide blades with curved tips. A new bubble canopy design, with greatly improved vision sideways and forward had been developed for the F-2 ground attack model, but was often seen fitted at random on A-8s, F-8s and G-8s. The new canopy included a larger piece of head armour which was supported by reinforced bracing and a large fairing. A new internal fuel tank with a capacity of 115 L (30 US gal) was fitted behind the cockpit, which meant that the radio equipment had to be moved forward to just behind the pilot. Externally, a large round hatch was incorporated into the lower fuselage to enable the new tank to be installed and the pilot's oxygen bottles were moved aft and positioned around this hatch. A fuel filler was added to the port side, below the rear canopy and a rectangular radio access hatch was added to starboard. Other changes included an ETC 501 under-fuselage rack which was mounted on a lengthened carrier and moved 200 mm (8 in) further forward to help restore the centre of gravity of the aircraft. This fuselage would form the basis for all later variants of the Fw 190 and the Ta 152 series. The Morane "whip" aerial for Y-Verfahren was fitted as standard under the port wing, just aft of the wheel-well. Nearly a dozen Rüstsätze kits were made available for the A-8, including the famous A-8/R2 and A-8/R8 Sturmbockmodels. The A-8/R2 replaced the outer wing 20 mm cannon with a 30 mm (1.18 in) MK 108 cannon, the A-8/R8 was similar but fitted with heavy armour including 30 mm (1.18 in) canopy and windscreen armour and 5 mm ( in) cockpit armour. The A-8 was the most numerous of the Fw 190 A's, with over 6,550 A-8 airframes produced from March 1944 to May 1945. A-8's were produced by at least eight factories during its lifetime

                                and not to forget Andy who started this thread.. now the Ju 88 is very close to my heart as i have dissesambeled two complete ( Ju 88 A1 werknumber 0880119 and restoring that..and taken apart Ju 88 A5 werknumber 6146 )

                                your A4 spinner ( the ovale shape of the propellerholes gives it away..it was used for wodden blades ) the steel VDM blades had a straight hole in the spinner ( just like inn the Fw spinner seen above ) BUT this looks repainted.. with red etchprimer ( a commom mistake is that all original paint falls of when stored outside and all that is lef is the red etchprimer..and often people paint it like this because they think it was red..
                                but oh man..you could do some nice things with that.. greena dn blue.. red ( more clear red ) and white tip.. black,, yellow..black green ( our A4 spinner si pure black green..but we also have one half green and half blue )mmm lots to choose from any plans with it ?
