Bf 109 G/K swastika tail - opinions please!

Good morning, I have this item of Mike Davis on hold pending a verdict from forum members.

Can anyone confirm it comes from an Me109, albeit late war aircraft G/K model?

"Believe this swastika cut from late Bf109 G/K with wooden tail, black and white stenciled swastika applied to section of camouflaged plywood, reverse shows remains of wood reinforcing and adhesive, estimate coverage of painted side at about 95%, rare and attractive display item, one 5cm crack to the outside arm of swastika, 33cm x 33.5cm"

    Further images are here:

    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for posting Rob.

Also, I found the other photo I mentioned - posted here.

The piece on left I also believe came from a wooden tailed Bf 109G/K based on photos I compared it with in the Broken Eagles series.

Unfortunately I do not have a photo of the reverse but it showed the same type of wooden reinforcing, adhesive, greenish application, etc.

I will look forward to reading learned comments.

The thing that would concern me most is the thin black outline around the hakenkruz. I've studied hundreds of photos of 109's and I've never seen that black outline on late war models. I think the panel itself looks genuine but probably not from a wooden tailed 109.

          Well, I've changed my mind.

I found this photo of a G-10 which had a wooden tail as standard. The geometry of the spars look like an exact match with the pattern on the back of this panel.

I´m seriously envious that I didn´t see that on time. Congratulations on such a great piece of history - for you too Ben.

                Cheers, Jack

I found this other photo of a smashed 109 wood tail mounted on a jig. I've emailed the photographer to try and get some better images. To be able to see down inside the assembly would be very interesting.

and here is one from an Fw190, which was found in Normandy. It is a complete tail, ie double sided.
