hello all

I was wondering, did every branch,( flak, flieger, pioner) and so on
have their own waffenmeister or was there a specific branch that
took care of maintaining weapons ?
I looking forward to hearing from all you LW experts.

Every branch had its own Waffenmeister.

So in the Fliegertruppe they had yellow branch colour, in the Flak-Truppe red and so on and so on.

I did not know that. I thought that the Waffenmeister had a red waffenfarbe(Officer grades only) and the special "W" cypher.

Meister was (and is) always a Feldwebel rank (higher NCO). Never an officer.

That is not true my friend. A Musikmeister is a Leutnant ranking. A Meister is also the ranking of a Leutnant ranking for an Air Traffic Control Official.

A Meister is not a rank but a craftspeople level in Germany. Should be a master craftsman in the US. Equivalent is always a Feldwebel rank in the German military (in the old as well as in today's armed forces).

What You mean are military ranks which incorporate the word Meister like in Musikmeister. That has nothing to do with the craftspeople levels. But Waffenmeister for example indicates a craftspeople level.

Sorry, sometimes our language intracicies are a little bit difficult.

I follow the logic, but why do you think they would have meister in the Musicmeister rank? I have come to realize that a lot gets lost in translation between German and English. I have tried all the online translation tools and none of them are very good. I can only hope my new neighbors across the street are native German speakers.

Waffen Meister has 2 rifles krysen over each other on the sleeve (Tätigkeitsabzeichen)
The "W" cypher, symbolizes that you are from waffenmeisterschule.
