    co2 bottle for life west

Hi,not sure if this is the right place for this, but i'll try anyway
I had to restore this bottle, had to chip off the rust so that it woulden't
damage the west more than it already had.
So my question is:What was the original colour on this, and do anyone have pics of one.
    Thanks

Here's one of mine, it has a 44 dated bottle ..
The iron bottles all look like this IMO, red and grey, although I think I saw tan colored ones too, but don't know if that was their original color.

Your bottle needs some work, I would carefully try to release the bottle, then it can be fixed with some car repair stuff, piece of sandpaper and some paint.

          Hi Jos

Thanks for your input, very nice pics .
The colour looks like dark grey perhaps something like (Ncs code)7500 or
          something?
          Didn't Luftwaffe have code?
Anyway, mine looks like it have never been painted red on the tip and since it hasn't i'm not sure i will do so.
An other thing is that on the west were the bottle is connected there are two o-rings or seals wich leads me to think that this has never been used,or?
          Thanks again.
          Best regards

              Yes, they're spare O-rings ..

Just a question, is your bottle a copper/iron one or completely copper with some oxidation ?
The copper bottles didn't have any paint ..

                Hi jos

I'll say it's copper and iron, not easy to read the date on it but i'll se when i got it cleaned up.
What could the reason be for it not to be painted red on the tip,Very late war???
                Thanks

That could be a reason, maybe different maker ?
The tip as you call is copper or messing and it doesn't corrode with normal use, the iron part always has to be protected by paint.
After cleaning I would paint the iron bottle part, but in this case leave the messing part like it is.

                  Jos.

                    Hi jos

Heres the end result on the bottle,i don't have the right colour code yet but i'll find it and now it's safe from the rust.
Still some work left on the west ,but i'm getting there.
                    best regards from Norway.
                    Ps.sorry about the camera blitz
