      Stress relief? You bet!

Well, I suppose one's attitude toward things TR is a bit different when every badge or tunic seen was being worn by someone trying to kill you.

Still the allies stole all the good planes from german technology, like the Me 262 among others. I guess these planes where pretty damaged even before the soldiers went berserk

Can't say that's completely true. I seem to remember a guy called Frank Whittle...

True, he was a very important person but the english did not tend to be as successful as the germans in this matter.

Yes, but Mr. Whittle didn't even received the full support of his goverment for the development of his ideas on Jet propulsion systems, cutting short his research, he even had to surrender part, if not all, of his research to other aircrafts developers.

I once remember an article about operation "paperclip" , the race to capture the most of german technology in every area they experimented on, in the article several german experimental aircrafts, weapons and plans and diagrams of future weapons and teorys where presented to a delegation of top american science comunity......their replay was, "How they where able to acomplish all this with their limited reasurces and a full scale global war? .....Thank God the war is over, and WE won!!!!"

Well, I suppose it must be stressing when you can't manage to destroy them when they are flying... Better late than never...

You mean the Allies won air superiority over Europe by destroying the Luftwaffe on the ground with baseball bats?

                    Interesting...

Winners write history. And they do what they want when the battel is won. I think if we won the war, we also went to DC and play there with some things.....

Yes. Winners do write the history.

That's why the Allies--and not the TR--wrote it.

Those baseball-bat wielding GIs were in Germany. That's why they won. And a good part of the reason they were in Germany is because their flyboy brothers destroyed the Luftwaffe.

When were are flying......neat gadgets but not really what Germany needed to devote time and resources on. What good is a fancy toy if you don't have gas to make it go or pilots to make it fly? I think the big difference here is that the allies devoted their time and resources to technologies that would make a difference during the war rather than towards pipe dreams. Does anyone honestly feel that Germany had the capability to make a difference in the outcome of the war by devoting so much time and energy to jets? Neat toys don't work if they don't have the gas to fly

Blikny's reasonings are correct. That and the fact that Germany declared war on the US and we did our part to destroy the Nazi regime and we have written our history. The Brits have their view , The French theirs and certainly the Russians have theirs.
"To the victors belong the spoils." And we ,as collectors, collect them.
