hi
that is a id tag for luftwaffe worker who works with tools or similiar items that belongs to the comapny he is working for. these types of id tags are in use in avation even today. when a worker ( f.ex a junkers worker working on a Ju 88 need a special tool he goes to the toolboot and pick up the tool he need and put his id tag in the place the tool was hanging ) so then the tool can be easily traced to the person using it.
very nice item indeed

looks like my answer dident show up.. but again..thsi si a luftwaffe id tag for a luftwaffe worker who works in a factory and this is his id tag and employee number. these dags are in use in avaiation even today. if a worker need a special tool ( that belongs to the company ) he walks over to the toolboot and pick up the tool and leave behind this tag so the tool is tracable to the person using it

Do you think the chain belongs there, is there any evidence of a chain on the one you have?
That's also interesting, i live 20 minutes away from Gardermoen

by the way..the one we found had just a small steelring on it ( like a keyring ) and those in use today also have small rings on them as each worker has about ten each..and he put them where he pick up tools and other items needed to work on aircrafts.. but i have seen that some has longer chains..i guess that is induvidial for each worker when he recives his idtags and what he likes to do

have you visited the museum at gardermoen and seen the Ju 88 ?
your name sounds familiar
Nope, never. Didn't even know there was a museum located there, even though i was there today.........
Perhaps we've already met?
