    Me 109 Clock

It is very rare that you get to have a clock that was in an Me 109. It is even rarer that you get to know the aircraft it came from! I got this yesterday and have been running a test on it and so far it is off 2 seconds over 24 hours...not too bad for a 65 year old clock!

If the Werknummer of the aircraft itself is, in fact, 5207, it is from a Bf-109E-3. This makes some sense, as the clock type shown was not used in later series aircraft.

5207's sister aircraft (5205) is shown at this link:http://www.messerschmitt-bf109.de/di...otonummer=1496

There is a member here (and I will look for his name, as he posts very infrequently) who can probably tell you a LOT more about this aircraft
            if he is watching.

              Hi Leroy,

Yes I believe that the Werk No. is correct. Also the Revi C/12D supposedly came from the same A/C.

Very cool clock very tastefully displayed. It's awesome that you know exactly which Bf-109 it came from.

Sorry Gary, but the clock is a blind flying clock, not used on fighters and certainly not the Me 109. The plate is not a main data plate but a part plate (for the flap of the right wing) of a Me 109 F. The number is the serial of the part, not the serial of the plane (the WrNr 5207 was a Me 109 E-3, and the plate you have is from a construction group (8-109-333) which didn't exist in the E series, only from the F onwards).
                  Sorry if is dissapointing...

                    See?

The correct clock is Fl23885, I think.

                      Hi Roger,

No rain at all as I did get a proper 109 clock in the grouping as well. I think that the original collector got the grouping and found the 109 clock to be inoperable so got the other clock and mounted them together.

                      Cheers

Not wishing to hijack this thread but here is my clock purchased at an estate sale a few years ago. It more or less works, probably needs a good cleaning though.

                        All the best,

                        Dave

Here is the proper clock that came with the grouping! As I said it doesn't work at the moment but I am working on it!
