    Winter Flight Suit Photo?

I recently aquired this postcard size portrait of what appears to be a winter flight suit or ground crew suit. Does anyone have any idea what this guy is wearing?

Thanks! So this guy would be a pilot or member of a crew that flew a plane. It looks like a rather bulky suit. Would this have been used in one of the fighter planes like the ME109 or FW190, or a larger transport plane or bomber.

Yes, this guy was a crew member from transport plane or bomber or maybe was using an airplane with an open cockpit.

Sure! He's wearing an early one piece suede flight suit and Lkp W100 helmet...

There's no difference among fighters or bombers flight equipments, only personal choice ... somethings asked by the cockpit they have to 'dress', other times for availability or personal reason.

At the time wich the pics was taken, more of the flight equipment that we know, wasn't available, and the guy can fly on a several type of plane and in a several crew position...

          Cheers!

I've been wondering about this type of flightboots, they look like the all leather ones, but they're different.., seen them in several other pics..
They're bigger and have no seams.
Water resistant boots, might be for water plane..

            Jos.

              That's true, Jos!
I have had the same thought.... They looks like the standard ones (straps on upper edge), but are bigger and less 'fitted' as the 'original' ones...

Mabe they're only made all in the same leather (instead of the suede, more smooth, used in the upper part), brand new and slightly large?

              Who knows?

No, Frank, they're totally different, they're big and after inspecting some pics I see they don't have any zippers .
You had to put them on like regular boots.

                Jos.

Maybe you're right! But the little 'spot' on external side of the boot, could be the puller of the zips?

It's more likely to have a zipper at the inside of the leg ..

here's part of a pic I once got from Andreas, no zipper , this is the inside leg.. , strange soles.., anti-slip ?
Still think they're water plane related.

                    Jos.

                      Interesting pic, well done!
I agree with you. As the 'late' boots, when a boot have only a zip, it is sewn inside the leg... Really a strange soles. Could be right your thought. Made for the 'flying over water' suits, maybe.

                      Cheers!

Really interesting! Same flight suit, helmet and boots... its relation with the 'flying boat', can support the thesis about a dotation for this type of crew...

                            Great Jos!
