Has anyone ever seen one like this before? Is it real German WWII or something else with fake markings? Any comments would be very much appreciated.

Luftwaffe candle lantern 1942- Original?

I found another one of these that is a bit different. All the ones I have seen before this one have been silver colored with Luftwaffe markings. This one is a little bit smaller and is painted olive drab. It is dated 1938 and has what looks like the original glass, but the glass is clear, not frosted. Is this an Army issue type, or perhaps a civilian or paramilitary version? Here is a picture of it next to the Luftwffe type pictured above, for comparison.Attached Files

I'm pretty sure the Luftwaffe versions came with frosted glass "from the factory".....but replacement of broken panes would have been "clear".....certianly in the field or "postwar"....and they break fairly easily when used...
I've had "half dozen" of the LW versions....all had frosted glass, most were "silver" painted, but a couple were painted "black" (the metal work, obviously!).....Mine has gotten me through several power blackouts or hurricaines.....came in real handy!
Never seen the smaller type....but I'm sure the Army (and probably the SS and KM) had thier own versions.....you know those Germans......
Nice practical item.....
