Most on this forum are not qualified to vet a Göring uniform. Göring did have many versions of everything, uniforms included. That’s a fact, not an authenticity clause.

The current seller cites that this was formerly of the Wolfe-Hardin collection. I don't have the photos handy from that uniform so cannot compared its the same. SW had two at one time in the last ten years or more, one is now in NZ that I can recall.

This actually looks like one that Gottlieb found relatively recently, and if that’s the case than this is a different conversation. Regardless, this is a different vetting process entirely compared to most militaria.

The boards seem to be hand sewn and rather crudely so. What do others think?

Impressive if real, but like said, who's the Goering specialist .. ?
Stuff like this brings good money and we all know what that means, real, put together, clever fake etc..
Most of te time these items are just not the items seen in era pics, look a likes, one of the 50 he had etc..
Remember, they are faking paintings worth 30 million and noone can see, so who's the real specialist when it comes to Goering's belongings ?
Adding a few vague era pictures of goering with watermarks all over the place doesn't help much either.

Reminds me of a old guy who had a very expensive painting and the faker was caught and revealed he made it .. the owner's only reply was, well, I don't care actually, it's a nice painting and it looks real to me..

Fakers can do what ever they like when it comes to unique stuff, simply because there're no specialists to vet those items.
What happens then ? Dealers start to vet them or auction hauses, after that the item becomes real to the wealthy and light headed people, then put it in a book and a child is born.
Tailor labels, we all know about that by now, just tell what name you would like to have on it.

I think that many people have te same knowledge as the old guy ... and the same load of money .. buying things to have something others don't have, no more than that.

Stuff like that ain't fun at all, they're nightmares IMO.
Just circling around in certain groups and the last buyer might've a big problem.

Many soaps here have revealed the typical people who always have special items, unfortunately most of these things were crap later on.
The travelling of unique items going all over the world on and on tells a tale, at least to me, there's something in the air.

Well said Jos, and very very true. As long as there is not a period Picture what proofs without a doubt the Item was worn, i would not touch any Goring Tunic, Hitler Hat or what ever they sell for there Nuts Prices. I still remember the Guy who drive around in his old beat up Mercedes in the early 90s, Car was full of Goring Silverware, and some very very well made Tunics, one was the HG Tunic. That is now 30 years in the Past, what was back then well made, is today real, so simple is that. That HG Tunic took a long way around to Globe, started his Life in the Alps, then went to US and now arrived back in Europe, no more that complete as it was when i have seen it last time, just 50 Times more expensive

What is Weitze asking for that tunic?

Wouldn't trust Weitze since he was selling those fake HJ Party Day knives. If he could sell that junk, why trust him on a Goring tunic?

I think there is a marked difference in the quality between Goering's early insignia on uniforms and those on later versions. Early ones, such as this, tend to be Berlin made of beautiful quality, whilst towards the end of the War, Goering retreated to his castle in Austria and his tailoring came more from Vienna, I believe. Latter items tend to be of a lesser quality. His shoulder board eagles were heavy cast in gilded silver, with an L12 mark on the bottom baton (not a Juncker stamp). Hermann Historica had a pair a few years ago, with a letter of attestation from Goering's butler. They were definitely semi solid cast, each side eagle facing opposite directions..
                              Regards
