    M24 grenade

This M24 was part of a group of things I picked up today. Its dated
1938 on the stick and head as well as the Richard Rinker mark.
Missing the fuse, string, porcelain ball and metal cap.

A 1938 should have the instructions painted on the can. This 38 can does not. Hence the repaint.

Thank you for the link klarkon, very helpful.
I don't see any signs of instructions being painted on the can.
I'll have to take some more pictures but I agree with Ron P.

As Oberjaeger says it is original but it has been repainted at some point. That is why you don't see any signs of the stenciled instructions.

An early M24 like yours would be stenciled on the can like the far right one in the picture of my display stand. The middle one in the stand is also an early one with stenciling on it but faded.

Stenciling started from the very first one right up to mid 1940 when it was stopped.
No cans after were ever stenciled after this with instructions.
This can has been repainted at some point,. still a nice item, and early.

Here are a few examples on some I have here, also a later K version ( cold climate)

                    Regards
                    Nick

no1canuck I like that display stand and the collection in it! jeeeesny nice to see that stenciled group.
This is my only stick grenade (I have 5 repro's my wife and son have given me over the years) so
now I know the quality I should be looking for.

Here are a few more pictures, can't see any text on the can.

Thank you all for your help and education on this M24.

                      John
