Thanks Glen, a very nice example of the 15 cm Wurfgranat 41. Yours is very similar to mine.

Can anyone post a picture or sketch of the fuze that was used on the Wurfkörper 42?

Thank you Klarkon, I really appreciate it.

Now I know what type of fuze I need to find for my Wurfkörper 42.

Nowadays we have so many different "lightweight" metal allows that can be used for missle's and rockets. I know that's not the way it was back in WWII, but I am still amazed at the weight of the Wurfkörper 42, and the fact that it would travel a good distance through the air once it was fired.

Like the picture above shows, I am sure it took at least two men to load these into their launchers. Even with an empty warhead, it still weighs almost 144 pounds (65kg).

As always klarkon, you are a wonderful resource. Thank you for posting that. I guess my scale was fairly close.

So with the fuze added, and being completely filled with the explosive charge and propellant charge, the total weight would be 127kg, or about 280 pounds. It's amazing that thing could fly.

By the way, what would be the practical English translation for "nutzfülling" with regards to this weapon? I know it is referencing the explosive filling, but I am not sure how the term would be used for this application.

                      nutzfüllung - utility filling

Thanks klarkon. So the on-line translators were not too far off with "useful filling" or "usable filling", although the best one I found might be "payload".

Although not a Wurfkörper 42 Spreng, that is a really nice 15cm Wurfgranat 41 "Screaming Mimi". Thanks for sharing it with us!!!
