I.D. Wooden Box - 8cm Mortar 3rnds?

Hi, picked this up and appears to be 3 round mortar case but (missing) hinges are on the side not the end, as per most I've been able to find pics of. Also missing ld unfortunately.

Also interested in translating the pencil notation if possible.

Any ideas, comments?
