        my shell is is marked 7.62mm L/48 , L/50...but much shorter than a PaK40...

          Very interesting..... Case 7,62Pak 36 and 7,5cm Pak 40 mus be interchangeable. Have a photo?

                    This is NOT WW.II german shell case, WW.2 german cases were marked in cm............7,62 cm, 8,8cm etc.etc.

                        Yes, I think it`s fake too. Germany did not have marking in 'mm' and type of gun (only Pak, Flak, Kwk)

                          harrison987 - If your shell case has dimension = 76.2 x 590mm with 111mm rim, then it is cartridge for naval gun, for example used in St Laurent and Annapolis classes 1955-1990s - used by the Royal Canadian Navy .

                              Thought it was one of the Russian ones that was not converted to pak40 casing...

                                This shell case can not be Russian made - in Russian alphabet ( АЗБУКА ) is letter in makers logo "S" like "C", letter "H" like " Г ", "L" like "Л".

                                In russian alphabet would have to be headstamp on the bottom : " 76,2мм Л/48 , Л/50 " ГС
