This is A.Z. 23/28 Pr - (Aufschlagzünder 23/28 Preβstoff). This fuze was used for shells :
    8,8cm Sprgr. L/4,5 (Kz)
    8,8cm Sprgr. L/4,5 Stg
    8,8cm Sprgr. L/4,5 (Pr zugs)
    8,8cm Sprgr. Flak 41
    8,8cm Sprgr. 43
    10cm Gr.19
    10cm Gr.19 (Üb.B.)
    10,5cm Sprgr L/4,4
    10,5cm Sprgr L/4,4 (Üb.W.)
    10,5cm Sprgr L/4,4 (Üb.R.)
    12,8cm Sprgr.L/4,5
    12,8cm Sprgr.L/4,5 (Üb.W.)
    None had adapter.
Adapter looks like from some 7,5cm shell, for example 7,5cm Igr.18 Kh or Gb.

      Thanks for the reply...

      :-)

The only problem is that when I remove the adapter and try screwing this one on an 88 millimeter head... It will not sit flat.

Basically whenever I have seen fuses like this, there's a little bit of a lip at the bottom that allows the fuse to sit flush with the head.

Because this is missing that lip... There's about a 1mm gap between the fuse in the head.

      See pic

P.S. The adapter 100% matches the dimensions in your drawing...

About 10 years ago, a load of unknown 8,8 cm shells were found in a lake in germany.
All were completely empty thin walled HE-Incendiary Schrapnell, without fuze and with out an adapter.
This shell needed a fuze adapter because a wider mouth was needed to load the Inc. Schrapnell segments.
To fit a fuze with a M50x3 thread, somebody made a lot of new adapter rings.
I think your ring is on of those, it certainly looks the same.

By now, complete specimens have been found, both in 8,8 and 10,5 cm.
It turns out the original adapter rings look different from the newly made ones, the originals are much longer.

This is an unknown shell, no drawings have been found until now.
I do have pictures, but i can't upload pictures here.

I posted a few pictures of the 10,5 cm version a few years ago here: http://www.wk2ammo.com/showthread.ph...m-Spgr-Br-Schr

What a pity that you are not able to put pics here.
