m24 stick grenade marking question

A recent US vet estate find. I can't find anything about the large K on the side??

Nice Richard Rinker M24 Andrew. The ink stamped K indicates for cold weather I believe. Not sure what the difference was between a standard issue and the K marked cold weather one.
