Hi everyone, I have this French 75. What I would like to know is which war does it date from? Clearly this type of shell was in use during WW1, and the French 75mm field gun was still in use in WW2, but was this kind of shell also still in use? The fuse appears to be the earlier pre 1916 type as far as I can tell. The shell is marked 39, is this a date? Any help appreciated. Doug

It is propably 75mm obus à balles Mle.1897 with fuze fusée à double effet 22/31 Mle 1897.
This shell has not been made after WW1, but old stocks were still in use during WW2.
This shell was mentioned captured in France ......in german rule "kennblätter fremden geräts vom 12.5.1941" and was commonly used as well in Polish and Yugoslavian army.
Sorry for my poor English.
