Though the French 75mm Shell was produced by the millions by both The USA and France.. This is the only complete one that I have ever found with original paint.. I remember reading the memoirs of a young WW2 recruit upon his arrival at Ft. Sill, OK in 1942 for field artillery training, and while waiting for his training cycle to start he and several others were detailed to count the French/US 75mm rounds, after a month of counting they had counted over 4,000,000 rounds.. Enjoy this INERT quite hard to find WW1 French 75 SHELL... BILL

Cool piece !
If the paint is correct (and it sure looks that way), this should be a a model 1897 Schrappnel shell.
Officially known as "Obus de 75 mm à Balles modèle 1897, à charge arrière".
In that case, the shell is a 2 piece shell, with a detachable top section.
The "ALN" indicates the type of steel used, if i remember correctly, cast iron.
