75mm Box for the Sherman Firefly ?

A friend dropped the following bits off for me last night, picked up recently in Normandy at a carboot sale, most interesting of the items was the wooden box, British made and marked with the following "4 CTGS 75mm SMK MK V FOR TANK ONLY 11/43" and underneath "C283", which I presume would be for the British Sherman Firefly ?
The cases are 8x 105mm (the grubby ones have nice stencil details on the bottoms), 1x 90mm and 1x 40mm.

I'm no expert, but I'd read that as the Mk.V Smoke round for the standard 75mm gun. So could used by Sherman, Churchill, or Cromwell 75mm. (I'm not sure the first usage of the Cromwell, but could still have been stockpiled and used)

The Sherman Vc Firefly had a 17 pounder, so I'd have expected it would have been marked 17 PR, and not 75mm

(Nb the 17 pounder and 77mm in the comet were both 3in, but marked 17Pr and 77mm respectively.... And never to my knowledge marked 76mm)
