You have a German Naval shell as evidence by the C/M Imperial German Navy acceptance mark. A google search will give you much info on the type cannon and ships it was used on.

Looks like a case for the 28cm Krupp SK L/45-50 gun used on Imperial German Navy heavy cruisers and battleships. Check out the following link for details.

              Nice find.

Its a case for the 28 CM SKL40 gun. If it was an L45/50 case, the L45/L50mark would be in large markings at the 12 oclock position.

And most likely it was reused by the Belgium army after WW1, this because of the AFM marked primer in the case. So maybe from the Oostende battery?

                      Very interesting information.
L40 probably have the same dimensions likeL45/50 .so
                      your assumptions may be true.
                      AFM is belgiaa marker?
                      regards

The diameter of the l45/50 is slighte larger compared to the l40 case i thought, to confirm that, i will take a visit in my man's cave tomorrow and compare them, will do the same for the weight. AFM is a Belgium mark on the primer, so most likely reused by Belgium. Nice case you have there.
