    88mm Flak round

    I thought I'd post a few pics of my 88. The case seems to be steel with no markings. The entire piece is starting to show signs of surface rust. Any preservation ideas welcomed.



    The shell is marked...


    I have two fuses for it, a Spring-wound Time fuse...




    ...and a Percussion fuse.

    The bottom of the case is not marked and does not have a Primer.

      I can see a couple markings on the base. You may have to use a magnifier and hold it under the light at the right angle. As far as preservation, maybe some light machine oil applied with a cloth. I don't recommend scrubbing with 0000 steel wool as it may scratch the case.

        You are correct Steve, I completely missed that.

        The mark to the left looks like a lower case (a) and the one on the right a (42).



        I'll try the oil and cloth to remove some of the rust. Thanks for taking a look.
