Why glass grenades? For the enemy not to see the bits flying around?

in 1945 most of the german ordnance factorys were destroyed, metall was rare, so other materials were used.....more or less useful.....handgrenades made of concrete and glass and complete with Niplolit... the glass and concrete ones were only produced in eastern germany.....

                  best regards jens
