WWII US or German ID Training Stick Grenade ?

Picked this up a bit ago, appears an older made piece, wondering if an older reinactor piece or a WWII US or British ID Training model for Allied soldiers, like the sets made of the WWII Japanese ordnance for US soldier training. Has hole to top cast metal can and hole in bottom of stick with no cover ever used that appears they wanted to make sure it did not get mistaken for a real one.
Any info appreciated.

G'day nd,
Your M 24 is a reproduction that was available in gun/modeling magazines in the 70's. I bought one back then, not realizing how inaccurate in detail it was. My son is involved with German WW II living history, so I filled the hole in the canister, turned a more accurate handle and fabricated a new screw cap for it.

is there any type of collector value as a vintage repro or prop item, maybe people collect them as they are

I'm sure it would have some collector value, considering that it's in relatively good condition for being approx. 40 years old. BTW, mine originally came with a screw cap that appeared to be similar to the type used on paint thinner cans. It was held on by 2 small finish nails.
