    Russian 1912 grenade

Just arrived from Poland. A Russian M1912 grenade. The handle unfortunately, is a reproduction but, the rest of this World War I example, is in Nice shape. These grenades are rather scarce, so repro handle or not, was very happy to add to the collection. Blinky if you'd like more photos send PM & I'd be glad to send.

I know nothing about grenades...but isn't that style a little fragile? Was it more likely to go off prematurely? More dangerous?

          You got it!! That's super!

I'll send you an email tonight!

FreeR: these were as you said, a bit fragile but from the little I know about them they weren't any more dangerous than a lot of early grenades. It was kind of a complicated design and it seems like it would be easy to screw up a step in arming but also less chance of it blowing up in your face. The same general design served right up into early WWII I believe. Tim knows a lot more about these than I do.
