Different shells, german, british and mine horn

Hi guys. I recently bought a bit of shells and stuff...
Can anyone tell me what the different shells are for ? and something about the mine horn, is it supposed to be crooked ?

I was told 1 shell was german (waa confirms) and the other 2 brass coloured should be british.
