Not really my area, however assuming WW2 , and not WW1?

Hopefully you guys can shed some light on this box, re period and also the gun the ammo was for please?

Never got your PM because my box is full but I presume it is about this Ammo box

The box is a desirable example because it looks to still have its pre-WW2 three colour camo of the Reichswehr period.

And this is the gun it is for;

"The 10.5 cm leFH 18 was the standard divisional field howitzer used by the Wehrmacht during the Second World War. It was designed and developed by Rheinmetall in 1929–30 and entered service with the Wehrmacht in 1935. Generally it did not equip independent artillery battalions until after the Battle of Stalingrad in 1943."

I have two or three shell cases for this gun, all engraved up and NZ veteran brought back from Africa.

I assume that you have picked up this box in Aussie and if so it could have come from Greece or Africa, more likely "Afrika".

If it is NZ brought back then add Italy to the mix but the cammo is an early type ???

Certainly a nice ammo box. The only challenge I find with the big wooden Ammo boxes is the room they take up to store them.

Sorry, but but the box is not for the 10,5cm l.F.H. 18 but for the 15cm s.F.H. 18 howitzer equippinq the heavy Abteilung of the Infantry Divisions Artillery Regiments:
