Found german K98 grenade

Reported to police... dug deep hole and put it in.

Just wanted to know if I risked my life putting it in the deep hole, or was it not likely to explode?

It is missing the detonator part completely.

Inside visible cone had TNT when it came from factory and also small Penthrite(PETN) section/part where detonator thread starts.

Propably not dangerous anymore but not worth of touching neither.

Any item of Ordnance found in such a way is dangerous.
You obviously know a little about these to recognize what it was and by informing the Police you did the correct thing. I see so many times people bringing such items home only then to ask - 'what is it?' or 'is it dangerous?' Sometimes people dont get to ask such questions, touching the item is the last thing they do.

I would stress - NEVER touch anything you suspect of being dangerous. Leave it where it is and as in this case inform the police - DONT TOUCH IT. Life is short enough!!!
