I picked this up today from a local gunshop that I spend way too much time and money in. It came in along with a bunch of older guns and other stuff about a year ago. The owner kept it for hinself and finally gave in and sold it to me. Am I correct in assuming this is a model 1917? What does the P7 12 17 stand for? Is this a date or model number. I am assuming this is the real deal.

WWI German Grenade?

A very nice example of a Model 1917 grenade made December 1917 (at least this is what I understand the markings to represent) E.P.N will be the manufacturer/ contractor and the 5 1/2 Sek is the fuse time but that is pretty obvious.. I have four or five Imperial variants with profusely marked handles,

Andrew
