Where can I find an 88 round for a Tiger/king Tiger?

Hey guys - I'm brand new to large ordnance collecting so I'm not sure if looking for a tiger round is like looking for Rommel's original Knights cross or if there are actually some to be found out there? I am a bit of Panzer nut and would love to own a round designed for a Tiger.

Any suggestions of where to look? Also any ballpark for pricing? I found a casing only for $350 (plus shipping to the USA) but I didn't really want just the casing.

Appreciate any advice you have for a rookie. Thanks!

See The Lanes Armoury ( www.thelanesarmoury.co.uk ); he has two (Code: 14825 and 18833). They are not cheap!

This will probably require maritime shipping. I likewise received mine no problem from another source in England.

And BTW these criminals, "The Lanes Armoury" ripped me off for an item that currently averages for 1K. Would gladly welcome an inquiry here from them

          Other Options?

Mike - Thanks very much! That is rather pricey, but I can't say I'm surprised since I didn't know what to expect. I only found one on there, but maybe another member snatched up the other!

If anyone knows of any other sources I'd love to check them out.

The other question I was thinking about is how realistic is it to try to "build" a complete round over time? If I started with a case is it relatively easy to add a projectile and fuse, and primer later (if I have the terminology correct)?

          Thanks again for educating me...!

or you could try Ben, he does get them and he may be cheaper!!! - http://www.munitie.nl/

              Thanks Kev!

These guys look like good sources. Now if I can just get one of these sellers to explain to my wife why this would be a good investment

Rounds for Tiger 1 are quite easy to find but mailing them to US is not.

Here is one which i founded not long time ago.Projectile is copper ring version with very nice KPS stencils still visible.

Try egun.de. Search for 8,8 cm, not 88mm.
There is one appearing from time to time. Not all ship outside europe or speak english, but if you collect german stuff, you can learn

Sometimes 88's will pop up at gunshows a few years ago I saw three along with a cut away. You have to know what you are looking for a lot of 88's being pass off as WWII German are not. And if you see a 88 shell that has been painted over with a camo pattern it's probably a US 90mm.
