I picked this up nearly 20 years ago and recently found it packed away. I knew very little about these and as the years passed I began to wonder about the handle since it had no markings. Perhaps our resident grenade guys can offer some insight on this piece ----

the can is the common fcc marked one, very nice. the fuze is repainted and wrong for the grenade. the stick is an original one but used as a kitchen tool like a mixer after the war- you can see the drilled hole on top of the screwing, the screwing is also secured with some nails, normaly the screwing is crimped...
hope this helps
best regards jens

So do I understand correctly that the handle portion is an authentic wartime made piece intended for this type of grenade head?
And also that the metal threaded portion attached to the handle is also correct but reattached?
Just want to make sure I'm not misinterpreting the information being presented as it is most appeciated.

Yes the handle is authentic WWII production as is the threaded portion. The small nails on the threaded part are additions and I believe the hole in the top of the threaded portion is also added as my M43 grenade handles have solid tops (they may have been made with the hole, I am only going on what I have personally seen)
I have a link to a site somewhere that shows post war use of handles and other grenade related items. if I can find it I will post it.
