Nice find. Don't know much about these items, but couldnt this be a AB70, for 50 SD1's?

The photo in this post shows a AB70-1 which is almost identical to the AB23. If you look closely at the photo there is a fuze pocket that divides the internal case into three sections.....SD1 bombs at the nose, then a section for the fuze pocket then a rear section for more SD1 bombs.

The AB 70-4 which is the one that is shown at the begining of this thread for identification has only two sections.... fuze pocket to the front and then SD1 bombs behind in one large section. Also the rear of the container is pointed, compare to the one in peewee's photo.

This container was only used for the SD1's

(there are some excellent photos of this container complete with contents on page 108, English edition of 'German Air-dropped weapons to 1945' by Wolfgang Fliescher ..... highly recommend this book to anyone with interest in German air dropped weapons of ww2)

                hope this explaination helps.
                regards Kev

                    Sight case question

Not being up on all nomenclature, what type of 7.5cm weapon is this for? A tank, SP, or a towed AT gun. Although there were dividers/support panels (evidenced by the countersunk holes on the bottom) they are long removed, probably by the bring-back vet, who may have used it as a neat storage box (as have I) over the years. I policed it up in the early 80s.
There are two labels listing the components kept inside the box. One was glued over the other, likely an update.
                    All opinions are welcome,
                    Mike

It is spare part box for main gun of Assault Gun type armored vehicle(without turret). In germany called Sturmgeschutz.

Label shows 7,5cm Sturm Kanone 40 (Same gun also known as 7,5cm Kampfwagen Kanone 40 when installed into Panzerkampfwagen IV type tank with rotating turret).
