Normandy bringback weapon-but what is it?

A 101st forward observer from the 321st Glider Field Artillery Battalion sent home a small German rifle/cannon like weapon. It was just located recently and I have no pictures of it as of yet. So I will try to describe it as best as possible and perhaps someone out there can tell me what it really is.
It's boxed in a wooden crate, dimensions of approx. 7x23 x 21(inches) with German nomenclature such as, UB GEST .49, SG 33 and S.G.B. 63. The numbers are a bit smudged however. The weapon itself has about a one and one-half inch rifled bore and is bolt action. Made out of steel with the length of about 23 inches. There is a bristle bore brush mounted on the end of a wooden pole. The weapon is dated 1939.
Any idea on what the hell is this thing and its use ? One can never be sure why the vets decided to send home the things they did and surely this is one of those items. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like it could be a anti-tank squeeze bore gun. Imo until we see pictures.

UB initials usually stand for training ammo or devices. It could be some kind of blank weapon for training purposes.

Finally visited this weapon in person and have several photographs. Don't have the ability to post pics myself so if anyone wants to volunteer their email address to me then post the photo's here let me know. It's definitely German but the bore is approx. 3/4 of an inch not as large as first reported.

I have no idea what that action is , but that Ike is sweet with that bullion 101st patch.

                              thing

The first item listed on the contents of the box is "Uebungs Schiessgeraet" or training shooting device. #11 notes an ammo box. Whale hunting???
