    Western Desert Fuse

    Guys,

    This is a photo of a fuse from a collection of photos a friend took when he was deep in the Western Desert. This was on a NZ desert Air strip, which was left like it was yesterday, like it had been just abandoned. It looked on this fuse like a palm tree? My friend said it is a Desert environment fuse?

              Amazing finds, A friend of mine who worked in North Africa with BP in the 1960's found a perfectly preserved Thompson SMG after a sand storm as if some one just placed it there. he also found a trench dug out and underground bunker unearthed by the sand storm to reveal a storage area for Jerry cans and half a dozen mummified Italian soldiers.

                one is devoid a flap/tab and cap very dangerous

                  Nicely sandblasted Italian SRCM35 Handgrenades or "Handgranate 328 (i)" in german use.Also i see one Breda M35.

                  Dry weather have kept them nicely.

                            Bar mine question

                            Hello to all just a quick question about the bar mine shown on page 6 I'm not sure that this is a german reigal mine I may be wrong but could it be something like the Italian Anti personal Ramp mine as it looks to long and thin to be a reigal also not sure what year the reigal came into production it might have been after the African campaign . Just my thoughts so please let me know if I have got it all wrong I can handle criticsm I'm married

                              I haven't looked it up myself, but I was told it was a UK bar mine...???

                              I didn't post the S Pics no, and, I will ask a few more guys I know for Western Desert photos so we can see more stuff....

                              Regards to other stuff found, there was a HUGE underground tank of Red wine found at one point too by accident on a left over Italian Villa on the coast vacated during WW2 and lived in by Libyans until modern day.....mmmmmmmmmmm!..........now whether it was drinkable and then destroyed or dissappeared I have no idea but i CAN tell you "some" Libyans do drink....LOL!
