    Norwegian Raufoss shell

    Hi Gents,

    Got this one in a cabin, in the Narvik area ;-)
    I have found some info on the manufacturer
    but nothing regarding what kind of weapon it was feeding :-(
    As i'm not into "heavy" weaponry, I would appreciate if anyone could give me some leads or where to seek.
    Height is 18,8 cm, diameter is 7,6 cm
    Hoping these pics will help.

        Casing dimensions suggest it is for french :
        Canon de 76 M(montagne) modele 1909 Schneider.Or shorter name 76 mm mle.09 mountain gun.

        Germans used this gun under name designation 7.62 cm GebK 293(r).They captured some of these guns from russians and started to use them.

        Russians named it 76 mm mountain gun M1909 (76-09).

        Finnish army used it also under name 76 VK/09.

        Very nice condition case.And also quite rare.

        Let me know if you wanna sell it someday.

          It gives me a lead, but the mistery thickens, i'm searching this round,

          all around, nothing on the Finnish, Russian, French nor the Norwegian side

          :-(

                    I think you'll find it's for a Norwegian gun

                    This was the most common field artillery piece in use by the Norwegians and was used at Narvik


                    Coul also be for the 75mm mountain gun but i don't know if any were used at Narvik

                        I would still say it is for Mountain gun.Short casing lenght(188mm) identifies it for mountain gun use.Generally mountain guns always used short casings.

                        Casing lenght for Erhardt 7,5cm gun is 278mm.

                        Simon,you know that Norwegians gave Finnish Army one battalion of these Erhardt guns and ammunition for Winter War.These guns(and specially the ordnance) are quite well shown on Finnish Army wartime manuals.

                        Mountain gun 76 VK/09 (Original desing name: Canon de 76 M(montagne) modele 1909 Schneider) casing lenght matches perfectly 188,5mm

                            Hello Bifrost! The Shell is as Simon says for the 75mm M01 field artillery. Jeg har en selv som er funnet i stillingen til en av de norske kanonene, med skriften på hylsa ennå synlig!

                              No it is not for Norwegian M/01(Erhardt).

                              If casing is not shortened,it is definetly not for M/01!!!

                              Look pictures underneath.

                              This casing is for Norwegian 7,5cm feltkanon M/01(Erhardt):
