GPD guided shells for 100.000 $

I happened to find this article during a google search: http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/...-Shells-06835/

Am I misunderstanding, or are they saying the price of each of these 155mm shells is 100.000 dollars?
If so, that seems stunningly expensive for such a small quantity of explosives being delievered. I guess someone somewhere is rubbing his hands though!

PS: yes, I meant GPS, not GPD in the title.

If you want to hit a target with one shot and minimize collateral damage then they are cheap at twice the price.

Sure explosives are cheap, but what about all the R&D and 100s of engineers and many months of testing out in Arizona and marketing and...

I guess they only use one of these for extremely specific and high profile targets, but I still find such a price per shell hard to justify.

Then again, does anybody know how much a standart WWII shell with a time fuze costed? Those time fuzes are little pieces of clockwork and must have cost a faire bit as well... perhaps 0.1% of the price of this GPS guided shell?

Soon ammunition may be costing more then its weight in gold, and wounded will be considering themselves lucky to have a piece of shrapnel in them!
