            Hi,
It seems that is a good one but the wood has been vanish or waxed.
            Regards

It seems you have a good copy of one. As with markings most were not marked.

A very funky look to it. The originals that I have seen of this type with 3 letter codes were all marked eyx 44.

                        Schu-Mine

The manuafcturers code is indeed "gxy" for Gebruder Klinge, Lederwaren-Fabrick, from Dresden-Lobtau and was used on leather goods.

If I read the Waffenampt correctly it is 866 this inspectors mark doesn't match the manufacturer.

Compared to my Schu-Mine the "tongue and groove are reversed on the sides. The lid nails are also very bright and no rust marks in the plywood.
IMO this a post war unit made for the GI's.
Also the plywood is 5 layer, where the original is 3 layer and much thicker venner used.
                        Russell
Some may choose to ignore the past but they cannot erase the past.

                            Sorry, it's a reproduction.

                            Best regards

Its a good copy. Nothing wrong in having a copy as these mines in original form can be quite delicate to handle. Its nice to show it off to friends to see how it works without knackering the original. Original Schu mines were not treated with varnish or wax etc just plain wood itself.
