8.8 Flak 18 Round...case appears to have been spray painted over in gray, but it looks like it would clean off.

It is old Finnish army reworked round.
VAARATON word on driving ring means = HARMLESS
Finnish army sandblasted grenades+painted them to green(or gray).
Also they sandblasted casings and laquered them.
I work in old army depot here in Finland where all this specific rework was done.

I just added another one to my collection as well:

and think they are wonderful display pieces. Much like a Luger or a German helmet, they are easily recognized and true pieces of WWII history. Hard to find here in the US and - unless you go the 'slow boat' route - shipping from Europe can really drive the cost up.
