Any 2cm Flak 38 Experts here?

I have been trying to research this weapon and although you can find many sites with the basic information you can't, or I should say I can't, find any information, regarding different versions or the difference between early and late war weapons.

As an example some had a machined type elevation gear mechanism housing while others had what appears to be a stamped metal housing.

Some had gunners seats with a tubular seat support while some had a squarish stamped support.

Some had gunners seats with double back support tubes while others had a single Y tubular support.

Can someone shed some light on this weapon?

I would also like to know more information on the various versions of the gun itself so if someone has a website or source I can check I would be most greatfull!

    Thanks!

The machined or cast elevation/azimuth wheels are the early style, while the later stamped version are late. Same goes for the seat. What are you exactly looking for. I have a 2cm Flak 38 as do some of the members of this site. This is mine:

      Hi Van,

The black and white picture at the top right of your page shows the seat and it's mount that is on the 1/6th model Dragon Models made. That is what I am working on.

The elevation gear housing is squarish and I assume (supposed to be) a machined version. I have been unable to find good pictures of it as most show the stamped steel like yours in Dunkelgelb on the primered gun, or the gunner is sitting in the pictures.

Your primered gun has a box minus the lid in the front that I assume houses a battery to power the sights and control box (whatever the box is to the upper left of the gunner) and I would like to know what goes in there if possible.

What is powered on the gun if anything?

Sounds stupid but just how did the gunner traverse and elevate the gun or was there another crew member as well as a loader?? Seems like a lot to do for just one gunner, sight the target, elevate and traverse and hit the foot trigger too..

I have not been able to find anything about the gun itself and what makers or versions of it were used so help there would also be appreciated.

Thanks for responding! I have a bunch of questions and hope I am not taking up too much of your time..
