unknown german orange smoke (hand-) grenade

    Hi,
I have this bright orange smoke canister with a fuse quite similar to the early Zündschnuranzünder, only that is is extremly colourfil. The canister itself has the size of a hand grenade, diameter 46mm. lengh 93mm. It is definately Wehrmacht and still has the user manual sticking on it, unfortulately not fully readable anymore. Anybody knows what it is?

in fact there are more of them. They were found recently in a big hole near a geman field airstip amongst literaly hundreds of flares of all sorts (short, long, parachute etc), and some Abwurfrauchzeichen, Rauchsichtzeichen, and Meldebüchse Land. Not all in perfect condition, but still, quite interesting and sone rarer items......will se that I get one of the Meldebüchse Land, they are quite iteresting as well. Have the same fuse, but are larger and longer.

...can do, but only at the end of the month. This site is a bit off from where I live, and I go there again in 2 weeks.

If they are available for sell I know many people, (me for instance) , that would be interested in buy them.

                    Abwurfrauchzeichen, Rauchsichtzeichen, Meldebüchse Land

Here are some more pics what came up as well....more of the small smoke pots (Landungsrauchzeichen), some Meldebüchsen Land, mostly broken unfortunately, one in decent condition and still unopened which I like a lot, and the bigger smoke pots as well. All items have only been cleaned quickly with water. One can make much more out of it with proper care.

Abwurfrauchzeichen, Rauchsichtzeichen, Meldebüchse Land, Landungsrauchzeichen Ln 24645

                          Very rare and nice catch.

                          These items are still live.
                          The detonators are still intact!
Shipping is gonna be a big problem!

I see some are swollen. Especially the Meldebüchse. That's a sign there is moisture in the powder. What will make them very instable when dried.

And guys please, this is not the e-stand.

                          François

                            Hi,
yes, some of them are still live. But I don´t know what you mean with detonator....there is an igniter. If you pull the fuse the pot starts to smoke, not to explode. If you read the paper on it: pull the fuse (igniter) and throw out of plane. Hopefully no explosion ;-)
