    Question on a "Potato Masher"

    I have seen this stick grenade for sale in the E-Stand.

    Is there anything unusual in that the head is dated '44 and the wooden handle is dated '40?
    Is the condition just too good to be true? Is it possibly refurbished? Is it a fair price?

        Can you explain "not matching'? Is that because of the differing dates??

          Can and handle are from different manufacturers.Also obviously different production years,The 44 can would have had a stick marked the same as the can when it was issued,some manufacturing details would also differ on a 44 dated stick.
          The cans/handles were frequently mismatched during the arming procedure and also deactivation procedures when dealing with bulk grenades,at the time it was a case of sticks being sticks and cans being cans,they all interchanged to make the grenades so keeping them matched was no priority.
