I have found truckload of wings from Lappland, few arming wires, two complete bomb shells.Detonator+this specific bomb shell came from elsewhere. These are almost impossible to find in nice complete condition(without paying 500euros,some fools are ready to do that...not me...).

But they are easy to build from the parts,so i gather just the parts and build them.

Having a complete SD2 is worth 500Euro and its the same fools that also pay 5000Euro for a complete German Para Helmet. Collect what you like and the price people are willing to pay reflects the rarity and value of an item. A ground dug put together SD2 is the same as a para helmet with a fake decal and liner. Not the best off investment but some fools are willing to settle for that...not me...)

SD2´s are not rare. They are very common bombs, only problem is that complete bombs does not exist in numbers.Go and look for known european militaria online auction and you notice, almost all the parts of SD2´s are there(not always, but for example detonators, right now: many models are there). Not long ago, there was complete original color wing set, which alone went for +-200euros.Most of the "complete" examples in the market are rebuilt from the parts, that is the fact.

I had a pleasure to see complete AB 250 airplane canister full of mint condition SD2´s(144pcs) 1 year ago.Guy traded it for 100euros worth of items back in 1970´s.Same thing goes for Para helmets, they were not worth 5000euros back in early 70´s when the WISE collectors were on the move(or even earlier).Current amount of collectors for german war material is the reason why prices are skyhigh nowdays.

But have fun with your 500euros bomb.I enjoy my free examples!

Very interesting device. The German geniuses in Armament and Ordnance makers produced a real dangerous item when they invented this piece of engineering. Usually, when one was found they would blow it in place or situ. Way too dangerous to even touch.

Our version I am not sure of, I 'll have to go back to BOCN website and either ask or search for some answers regarding are own version?

First american copy of this bomblet was very much same looking than wartime SD2.It was called M83,and it was submunition of M28 and M29 Cluster bombs. Was used in Korea and Vietnam.Designed(copied) before WW2 ended,i dont know if used in WW2 also.

Here is PDF file of the american version:

                      jiipee76,

Thanks very much. I forgot it was the 83. Did we do anything to advance the weapon, say for instance, improvement over the explosive used?

Also, I am still looking for a book on Lori Torne. Haven't been able to find a book around here about him, that is written in English. Any reccomendations or suggestions?

Very nice Jiipee76. Even a restored ground-dug example in a collection is better than no example at all.
