    Munitions Box

    Gentlemen

Can anyone tell me what this box was used for and the era. It came out of an attic Dortmund and I assume that it is military. Because of the lack of swastika I have always assumed that it was Imperial. Perhaps I am totally wrong and it is for the Scouts.

It is about 14 inches long, 6 inches wide and 5 inches deep. On the front is a typical clip closure.

    Any one know?

    Many thanks

Sorry but what does 22 LR mean?

On what sort of boats would such a cannon be found?

      Many thanks for your help

        Hi James,

'22 LR' is small calibre .22 Long Rifle rimfire rounds.

In the UK they were often used in small hunting rifles (foxes and such like) and army cadet training rifles.

Do a quick google and you'll find plenty of pictures.

        Cheers

        Richard

          Thanks Richard

I was looking for some clever Naval term rather than the obvious. Thanks for putting me straight

          All the best

          James
