Poison Container? ID Help Please

Hey guys:

I bought a batch of odd items today from a storage unit picker got into. The main thing that got noticed was this little cube of sorts. Paper label all the way around, an add wire out the top and the word "posen" on one side.

What do I have here? It wouldn't be a concentration camp item would it?

I could be completely wrong but, it looks like a battery of some sorts.
I'm sure someone with more knowledge will chime in soon.

Yes, it is a battery indeed, guessing the size from the photos, this one goes inside the Fieldphone. Posen is where it was built, the town of Poznan in Poland.

Guys sometimes the depth and breadth of knowledge that is shown on this forum amazes me. A battery, I was conjuring up all sort of scenarios in my head! Well done.

Theodor is right. This is a 1.5 volt battery for the German field telephone 33 (Feldfernsprecher 33). The battery is often missing inside the telephone.
