Ive had this sitting in the middle of my coffie table for 2 years. Today i got the good idea to pick it up and look on the bottom its weighs 20 pounds or more, well the name Kurt Voigt is engraved on the back along with his address. I found refrence to a Kaptian zur see Kurt Voigt officer on the Terpitz went in to the service in 1900?. The shell is a large Imperial Navy Shell dated 1900? i think. Its one hell of a piece of trench art. Figured id post and see if i can get some help on the piece. Thanks for checking out the thread and for any help i can get.

The base inscription would seem to put it between 1938 and 1945 as far as that bit goes. The rest of the engraving of course comes from or is connected to an American.
What's the diameter of the shell (without the rim) ?Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.
